Our History
It all started back in the 1950’s when Ray Stone, Jr. purchased his first property, vacant land, at the corner of Madison Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. During this time, he served in the military, wherein he sent the majority of each paycheck to the bank to pay for his land loan. Twenty years later, this would become Ray’s first development, the Almond Orchard Shopping Center.
Early on, Ray Stone, Jr. was a real estate broker, buying and selling properties for numerous other clients. One of his clients, the owners of Anderson Bros. Pharmacy (where he was employed during junior college), asked him to find an apartment for them to buy. When he did locate a great apartment community for them, and they were about to close on the purchase, the Anderson brothers asked Ray, "Would you like to buy a small interest with us? Oh, and by the way, we also need someone to manage the property."
It was here that Ray Stone Inc. was first formed, in 1969: managing, and sometimes investing in, apartments. Ray’s work ethic, vision and integrity have been critical components to Ray Stone Inc.'s growth and success over the years. We now own and/or manage 15 Conventional Apartment Communities, 7 Independent Senior Living Communities, 2 HUD Senior Communities, and 29 Commercial properties.
Our employees are a key contributor to where we are today. We are 184 strong and still growing. Their engagement, commitment, teamwork, kindness, forward thinking and consistency are all attributes of our amazing team.
